Hola!! I think I’ve been saying (or implying??!) this to most of my previous posts but I’ve been really really busy with adulting and quarter-life crisis hence the long intervals in-between. Career teh! Haha! Anyway, what led me to create another blog entry, despite my new “profession”, is the excitement to share my new found favorite place: Sip and Gogh!
Ever since I saw a friend’s Facebook post about this art hub, my alter ego (The Frustrated Mangaka) has been dying to get out and get her hands “dirty”. The first attempt to visit was a total failure due to various reasons. I’ve completely forgotten about Sip and Gogh until an angel sent from above reminded me about it. We booked our reservation online at the Alabang branch for an open session last June 12.
We got there at exactly 1 PM. The first thing we did when we arrived was select a painting that we will use as reference. Honestly, it was a bit of a challenge because there’s a part of me that wants to create my own painting based on what’s in my head (and heart? haha) then there’s also a part that wants to “play safe” so as not to “waste” the canvas. Each session lasts for only 2 hours, so just imagine how long it would take if there’s no reference diba. It’s hard to think of a subject when you’re not inspired. The last time I touched my watercolors was last January pa so 5 months na akong hindi inspired hehe.
Tadaaaa! This is my selected painting. I chose this because of the colors and its story. It made me remember my Golden Retriever who crossed the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago. It’s been a long time already but he’s still engraved in my heart. Huhu.
Since I’m a newbie in using acrylics, I had a hard time blending the paint on my canvas huhu!!!!! I can’t help but miss my watercolor babies at home~
The best thing about this place is that all staff members are willing to lend a hand (figuratively and… literally?! HAHA) to address your painting issues. They give tips on how to achieve what you want on your painting. Also, they never fail to remind you to just relax and enjoy what you are doing. After all, art is a form of therapy. Art soothes the soul. Art is a gateway to another dimension. With that being said, I get to go back to those times I spent with Beni. O diba, magic!

We finished our own masterpiece a bit past 3 PM that day but the smile on our faces are still painted up to this point in time. It was truly a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this for people who are looking for new ways to chill and unwind. Unleash the inner Vincent Van Gogh in you and book your reservation at Sip and Gogh now!
